It's really hard to type without an index finger

Last night, in a flurry of kitchen productivity, I got my first real cut with my chef's knife.

I've nicked a hand before with a paring knife. Maybe I grated a little to closely with the microplane zester once or twice, but this--this was a cut.

A slice, right through the very tip of my index finger on my left hand.

A cut that, had I not built up a serious kitchen callous, could have taken my finger tip right off.

Lucky for me, it stopped bleeding after about 30 minutes, and today it just looks like someone was a little too vigorous with the pumice stone.
