I am completely incapable of deciding what to pack and what to ship/move.
This inability stems from not knowing how long I'll be "homeless"/"couch surfing"/"imposing on the generosity of friends". See, I figure I need about 3 weeks of clothing:
- 1 week for chillin'
- 1 week for biz casual
- 1 week mixed workout, evening, and fall (in case it gets cold)
So, that's three weeks of wear (plus shoes). Considering that it's summer, that'll totally fit into one or two suitcases. Except that I can't make up my mind. Also, I need to fit all of my jewelry, my 'blades (b/c I fully intend to take advantage of the fact that Tiffany walks quickly and I blade slowly), and my toiletries for 3 weeks into two suitcases. Plus, I need to decide what will stay in the car which I'm leaving at my parents' until they bring it to me, and whether I believe the car will arrive before the moving van.
Ah, decisions.
Is it significantly (or at all) cheaper to bring what I can, saving the movers from packing it? (I don't have any boxes and the timing is tight.) Per box, the charge is h->0, but when you consider how much clothing I've got . . . that per box charge makes me want to squash every sweater I've ever owned into my guitar case as "lining".
Clutter? I'm decluttering. Non-perishable foods? I'm throwing in the laundry room. Packing? I'm leaving to the movers. Short term suitcases? Woe. (Insult to injury, I've always been good at this part. I don't like packing -- who does? -- but I've always managed it well enough.)
Yeah, yeah. I'll go sort through my goods again in a minute. Right now I'm basking in having viable internet once more (having finally gotten rid of -- I hope -- that "XP Antivirus 2008" that's been going around which suddenly attacked).
