There's a massive filk convention (ConChord) being held in San Fernando Valley in August.
I've never been to a filk convetion. Heck, I've never been to the filk room at a general convention. Still, I'm really tempted. It sounds like it could be fun. (In the same way that karaoke and unpublished manuscripts are fun.)
I've written 5 filk in my time (4 that are to folk tunes and one that'd make a non-filk album). It might be fun to go and play them for people who would care. 'Course, I only know about 20 other non-Janine filk songs (among them the banned "Banned from Argo").
For $20 per day (or $40 for the weekend), it's worth checking out. Anyone else want to go? It'll be a bit of a drive from Long Beach, but it could be a good time. At least we could say we'd done it.
[In other convention news, AX is being held this weekend at the Long Beach Convention Center. There's a slew of cosplayers throughout town. I'm totally getting lunch down there tomorrow.]
[Oh, and I had a job interview today. It went well, I think, and I'll be hearing back from them in two weeks.]
