photo update! part 1

Apr 26, 2007 23:55

Yay! I finally have internet access again. Something funky was going on with our internet so we didn't really have internet for the past few weeks.

I'll be updating my yahoo pictures these next few days, but for now, here's some pictures from Spain, Paris, and the my new love of my life Coconut! Yes, I got a dog, and yes, I never thought I would be but I am such a dog person now...I don't go to school or work anymore just to play with him. lol. I try to be home with Coco as much as possible. But Spring Quarter's been fun so far anyway - Mexico the first weekend, John Legend concert, Rosanna's 21st and my 21st!

I'll post pix from the 21st celebrations next entry, but for now - THANK YOU! to everyone who called and texted for my birthday! My personal fav was Felicia and Jon's duet, ending with "...shhhat. we's so good." haha! Miss you guys and everyone else. Spring Quarter also means it's just a few weeks before summer and a visit home too - can't wait now that most of us "juniors" are finally 21 and can play at the big kids clubs with everyone else! =)

SPAIN - Madrid

Saena and I were only in Madrid for one day and one night, but I fell in love with Madrid. Maybe it was because it was the first part of our vacation, or because we didn't have anything to do but walk around, take our time playing (as you can see - they had such fun playground thingys!), and eat. We even went rowing on a boat on a lake in El Retiro gardens. Madrid is just so lovely, isn't it? There's no other word for it.

That night we went out to a tapas bar! There I am drinking my first real sangria. It wasn't that good actually. The next morning we walked around some more, looking at churches, gardens, police cars (haha, aren't they funny looking?), the ginormous Palacio Real de Madrid, and the infinite plazas all around the city before we got on a bus to head to Granada.

SPAIN - Granada

Reuniting with Jen was the best! We miss her so much here. She showed us around Granada, which is tiny but gorgeous. The first night we went clubbing with a bunch of her friends. Clubbing there was quite an experience! Lots of reggae and techno music, but it was fun. Jen got that pix of this guy talking to me, it totally looks like we're gonna kiss, and it totally makes my head look super big. The next day we woke up super late, had a long lunch at a cute plaza with this really good lemonade/wine mix called Vino de Verano, and visited the huge Cathedral. At night we went out for tapas at La Bella y La Bestia (I joked to Saena that it was named for me and her, respectively - "The Beauty and The Beast," heh). That place had great sangrias, tapas, and ambiance.

The next day, Sunday, we woke up super late again (but I loved that about our vacation - it was really a vacation, not like the crazy traveling my family does) and hiked up the hills to see Alhambra, a famous castle. We climbed up stairs that had beautiful graffati. There's the three of us with the castle in the background, then us eating paella at a cafe. There's me and Saena on a random street - aren't those street lamps so cool? - Jen posing in hotel de Jen, and me kissing Jen goodbye as we left for the bus back to Madrid, to catch our flight to France.

FRANCE - Paris

Our flight got into Paris early morning Monday, and after checking into our cute little hotel, Saena and I took a self-guided walk tour based on the historical landmarks in Paris. We started at the amazing Notre Dame Cathedral, with its huge stained glass windows and dozens of carvings, including gargoyles. We walked along the Siene River, stopping at the Deportation Memorial, Latin Quarter (where we saw the skinniest house in Paris, as you can see, it's the tall two windows width building in between the two other buildings...I was almost most excited to see that, I mean, how do people live in there?!), and Sainte Chappelle before metro-ing it to the Eiffel Tower.

Paris was the last part of our trip, and we spent three days and three nights there. We took it easy the first day, but the rest of the trip was kinda a lot of sightseeing - there's the Hall of Mirrors in Versailles, Saena at the gardens and fountains between Versailles and Marie Antoinette's estate, Arce de Triomphe, Champs de Elysses, and of course the Lourve. It was all amazing. One of my favoritest parts was renting a bike and riding along the Siene at night time. I read a lot on France's history before going on the trip, so I took a lot of self-guided walks around the historical landmarks. The bike ride was a nice change, and Paris is called the City of Light for a reason. It's just amazing at night time. The Lourve especially was amazing, with the courtyard and pyramids all lit up.

I actually liked Spain more than France, probably because Spain has this amazing lifestyle I descrived in my last entry. Everyone there is so relaxed - waking up at 2pm, having a 3 hour long lunch, clubbing from 3am to 6am - they are obviously not living on a clock. It's such a great place to take a vacation. Paris was a little too touristy for me. Saena and I split up a few times because we wanted to see different things, so we don't have a lot of pictures. My favorite thing I didn't get pictures of was the D'Orsay Museum. It was way better than the Lourve for me, since my favorite art period is Impressionism. However, I had some fun in the Lourve. I took this picture to show Saena I saw her momma in Paris:

haha. I know, I'm a loser.

The weekend we got back, I randomly got this little booger:

I named him Coconut, but I have all these ridiculous cute nicknames for him, because I've just turned into one of those crazy dog people. He's so cute though, the pictures don't do justice. Isn't that picture of him and Oreo (Grace's puppy) adorable? It's so fun having the two of them in our house. Coco's a toy poodle, weighing in at 4.20 pounds, and even though he's tiny he's pretty independent and he's such a good dog. I am absolutely in love with him!

Birthday pix up next entry! Lemme just say though, last week was one of the best weeks ever =)
