I knew it was coming, but it was still pretty funny the way it panned out.
Sam: Do you want to see a movie? ^^;;;;;;;;;
Me: I would love to see a movie, but is this a date?
Sam: Yes it is a date.
Me: Aw, Sam, that is really sweet but I have a boyfriend.
Sam: Ok, it is not a date.
Me: HAHAHAHAH!!!
This is a guy who I was helping out with his English a while back. I hadn't seen him in a month or so and I went out dancing last night. I must have made an impression on him because he texted me this morning saying I "look likes good" last night, and then asked me this just now. Thing is I told him I had a boyfriend the first time we met so he was either trying his luck again or seeing if we were still together....*sigh*...
As funny as it was it also agitated me a bit as well because this has been happening a lot recently. I've always been incredibly adamant about girls and guys being able to be completely platonic friends but recent events have been making my arguments pretty weak. This is an even larger problem when you look at the fact that most of my friends are guys. Chalk it up to being in the military, or dancing or whatever but when it comes down to it I just get along better with guys. Don't get me wrong, I would love some good girlfriends. I miss girl talk and the necessary bonds with my own gender, but I've always had a hard time building strong and lasting relationships with girls. The few I do have always live hours if not days away, which I can't really complain about because I'm usually the cause of that. ;)
And as for my guy friends, I wouldn't be completely honest if I didn't say that it goes both ways. I'm sure I've lied to myself about how I feel for a guy friend, but usually, with enough time the lie becomes the truth anyways, or at least close enough, I guess sometimes you'll always wonder 'what if?'. ;)
Anyway, this is probably just a reaction to a few isolated instances but it did make me think about things. And what is LJ for if not to dwell on the totally irrelevant?
Anywho, I hope everyone has an excellent New Year! I plan on bringing mine in with some soju, pizza and beer (maybe I get along better with guys cause I kinda am one...) Hopefully next year brings a better year than this one! Not that this one was bad, but why not shoot for better right?
:)
