Castle is a show by geeks for geeks! ::hearts::

And anyone who dresses Jon Huertas up in camo deserves a medal. Mmmmm, boys.

he still has to use the Dad Voice

He totally did! I didn't even know he could do that!

Since my favourite parts of the show tend to involve Castle and Alexis and their daddy-daughter Awesome, this episode made me very very happy. Throw in the fannishness, and they might as well have just launched me the hell over the moon. :)

And not only is Castle a geek. he is a geek's geek.

Yes! And he's anti-fanboy-in-the-basement stereotype, which is just *nice* to see on mainstream TV. (And the way Fillion plays it, you can *tell* he actually *gets* a lot of the jokes, himself. Which totally doesn't hurt my already lofty estimation of him, either. *g*)

Keith and Veronica and Castle and Alexis solving crimes = CROSSOVER MADE IN HEAVEN. :D

Wasn't Castle brilliant? For me it wasn't the fact that they did those shout outs - it's the gentle hand they did it with. There have been other shows that've tried it and failed because they "winkwinknudgenudge" hard enough to knock youover. Castle did it with respect, a wink, and one big LOL.

And did you notice the Firefly music scoring slipped in during his initial "appearance" in costume? Just so cool.

Thanks for pointing out the murderous doctor ref. Now I can have secondhand lulz to cap off the lulz of last night. Oh, yes, show. You do not disappoint. And Beckett, you're growing on me despite me initially finding the actress who plays you offputting for some reason

I missed out (ah, so to speak) on the GH/Ian Devlin stuff. Actually, I seem to have gone cold-turkey on soaps without even noticing, recently, though the news about JJ returning to GH has me sorta-kind wanting to take a look-see.

I didn't find Beckett offputting at the beginning, but I did find her very much in the Paual Marshall/Carla Gugino mould, which made watching her a little weird. But I am so over that now! Stana Katic has done a really great job of making Beckett *Beckett*.

To clarify (tho' maybe you understood) I wanted to get on board with the character, but the actress bugged me. But as Beckett became more established as a character, whatever it is about Katic that I found jarring has gradually receded so that I really don't notice it anymore.

I think what has particularly helped is that they've established Beckett's sense of humor so much more clearly and consistently this season and I think Katic's own (seemingly likable) personality shines through at those points, which makes me like both the actress, and the character, more.

The actual crimesolving parts of the show, I can take or leave--but I heart Castle and Alexis, and the Castle/Beckett banter is just so much *fun*. And then they went and did this episode, with all its geekiness, and I'm afraid I just adore it in general, now. *g*
