I don't know if anyone watches the Olympics, or if you don't cares, but what Paul Hamm just did made me cry. To be able to come back like that, and because I've watched him and his twin before..it just made me so happy, like getting to watch the Packers again after a seven month football drought.

ATHENS, 18 August: Current world champion Paul HAMM won the first Olympic All-Around title for the USA in 100 years, on Wednesday, 18 August in the Olympic Indoor Hall with a score of 57.823.

The other record achievement for the night belongs to Korea, who celebrated two medallists on the podium: KIM Dae Eun with silver (57.811) and YANG Tae Young with bronze (57.774).

Ioan Daniel SUCIU from Romania took the fourth place (57.648); fifth was Rafael MARTINEZ (Spain), 57.549; and sixth Hiroyuki TOMITA (JPN), 57.485.

It was a nerve-racking competition with constant hunt down where only the toughest competitors survived.

The competition started with HAMM (USA) and the Chinese YANG Wei sharing the first position with equal score of 9.725, for Floor and Pommels respectively, with the Romanian SUCIU following them closely.

In the fourth rotation YANG pulled ahead of HAMM, who suffered a disaster on Vault. He sat down after dismount of Tsukahara 2 and ½ twists.

The fifth rotation saw YANG Wei loosing control and hanging on one hand on the High Bar.

KIM Dae Eun (KOR) then came forward, followed by Brett McCLURE (USA), both having gone smoothly through all the apparatus.

Just as it happened at the last year’s world championships in Anaheim, it all came down to the High Bar to clinch the title.

HAMM needed 9.825 to tie with KIM, but after strong performance with three releases, he scored even higher, 9.837.

So I decided to tell Kevin this....

BloodlessAugury: Oooh Kevin it was just so pretty
Y Oz Kant Read: what was?
BloodlessAugury: to see the guy winning the Medal like that in the Olympics
BloodlessAugury: And I thought you should know that
Y Oz Kant Read: ...the olympics are going on?
