Of lazy days, old-time nostagia, and the bottled fiend

I don't know why; the air in my bedroom seems to be full of "lazy" gas. I can't seem to do any proper work in here. I either (a) sprawl on the bed while burying myself in a book, (b) glue my eyeballs to the TV and my butt to the floor, or (c) finger-dance on the keyboard in search of really-entertaining-but-really-useful stuff to read online. The most "strenuous" stuff I do is probably to paint my nails (which reminds me, its time for another paint job).

You read all those tips in Reader's Digest, EzyHealth, and whathaveyous, that you should not have any work-related stuff in your bedroom so as to ensure a good night sleep. But I think I'm the other extreme; I'm too lazy to do my "chores". There's tons of bills and letters to file away, books to be packed, accessories to be sorted out..... so much work! Yet I procrastinate day after day, hoping that someday I'll get "witchy" powers and things will get done with a twitching of my nose.

Of course that's never going to happen lah. Which is why I resign myself to a 2-day cleaning stint come pre-CNY spring-cleaning period. Hai....

I actually bought a Cantonese CD yesterday! The KTV session last Fri got me reminiscing about the songs I used to sing butcher in my earlier secondary school days. The Jacky Cheung, Andy Lau, Shirley Kwan heydays.

I was quite upset though; how come the CD is called "Old Cantonese Songs"? I'm too young to start listening to "old" songs! Those songs are only .....15 years old what!

HMPH.

And yes I went to Kbox at Marina Square last Fri. I tried, in vain, to lure my colleagues to the tempting arms of Long Bar, No. 5, or Alley Bar, but sigh, the vampish charms of that KBox floozy seduced them in. You may have guessed, I'm not exactly a KTV fan. My shrill, high-pitched voice brings visions of ancient Chinese torture to the "listeners".

Thank goodness my 2 colleagues entertained us for 2 hours with their tone-perfect performance. One of them belted out Jacky Cheung's and Andy Lau's songs with astounding likeness; really really incredible.

After KTV, the folks declared that the night was still young and decided to adjourn somewhere for drinks. After 2 stops (Ink Club and Long Bar) which were bursting at the seams, we settled on a Spanish pub in CHIJMES (I forgot the name ;Þ).

It's strange to be drinking with people you are unfamiliar with. You have to get used to the conversational topics, which flows more rapidly when alcohol's involved, and the other parties' mood changes. Some people get more relaxed after downing a few; others clammed up. You see the group behaving much differently from their rigid, controlled selves at work.

I guess I'm like that too.

Oh yes, mental note to self: stick to beer! Cocktails simply make you red-faced-sober-minded and invite endless "You must be drunk!" accusations.
