You know how sometimes you get all excited with anticipation for a planned shopping trip but came back empty-handed? Well, I've done the opposite today. It was supposed a casual luncheon with some gal friends and I ended spending more than a hundred bucks on shopping.
After a surprisingly scrumptious meal at Furama Riverfront's The Square restaurant, we headed over to Great World City to walk the meal off (though in reality, we need to walk to Jurong to walk everything off). ZARA was having a sale so being the average Singaporean whose blood pressure doubles when these four-letter words are flashed (I've been told that other four-letter words have the same effect as well), we tottered inside to "have a look".
20 minutes and many, many clothes racks later, I emerged feeling victorious with a polka-dot black/white top ($24.90) and a black scooped-neck tee ($24.90). By the way, anyone encountered really friendly service at ZARA? Besides making us feel underdressed in their all-black-sometimes-3-pc ensemble, the sales associates (customer service associates? sales assistant? sales girls? whatever they are called these days!) seem to have a permanent look of disdain on their faces. I feel almost timid approaching them with a request to check sizes.
Next stop was The Body Shop, where I finally got my hands on the Cranberry Shimmer Lotion. It was going at 40% off (approximately $11); how can I resist? I adore the cranberry smell and of course the shimmer! I love anything with shimmer! Blusher, eye colour, lipsticks, nailpolish ,... you name it, I love it! Maybe if you deck out my current boss in shimmer, I may even grow to un-dislike him!
No, wait. I'm sorry. Even shimmer doesn't help in his case.
That CD Shop was the final destination and I spent almost 45 minutes in there! So many nice CDs, so little money. Sigh. They were running the 3CDs-for-$49.90 promotion and I grabbed Bossa Nova (perfectly for listening in the solitude of the night), Westlife's The Love Album (don't condemn me, I just can't resist a Westlife's album!, and Michael Buble's 1st self-titled album (my previous burnt version got corrupted, and I just have to have a copy!. Other contenders for my hard-earned buck were Olivia (the local bossa nova girl made good in Japan), a CD of lounge music (think the title was Raspberry Tea or something), and another bossa nova 2-CD compilation. Regretfully, I settled for just 3. My heart will go on, but my cash won't.
Sigh. Just when I made up my mind to stop buying useless stuff (like another lipstick to add to my collection of 1223984 lip colour) and to purchase more pricer but quality products (I badly need a good powder), another hundred bucks bid a fond farewell to me.
Oh well, nothing like shopping to put me in a good mood! Say, does this mean that I gain karma points for simply working in a shopping centre industry then?
