Fic: New Arrivals (G)

A/N: another SPD post series snapshot. Read Happily Expecting Puppies first. Not beta'd
Sky walked through the door, automatically picking up the puppy that tried to trip him up before depositing it back into the basket Jack had set up in the corner. He knew without turning as he made his way to the kitchen that at least two of the dratted mechanical mutts were following him. Bridge must have programmed them to do that; it was the only possible explanation why, even though he continued to pay minimum attention to the tiny tykes, they seemed to adore him.
Walking into the kitchen, the first thing that caught his eye was the single sheet of notepaper propped up against the percolator: Jack, probably to say he’d be working late. The red ranger quickly skimmed the by now familiar explanation, frowning in confusion as he yet again tried to understand how his partner could want to work in such a disorganized manner. There were a few lines of apology for the short notice and something about making it up to him later, but Sky was distracted from reading how by a tugging sensation on the lace of his shoe. Absently, he scooped up the smallest puppy before it succeeded in sinking its tiny teeth into leather, letting it snuggle into the thick sweater he was wearing and folding his arms around it to stop it from falling - because he knew Jack would have a few choice words if the little thing got broken in any way.
Delighted to be singled out for attention, the grey and blue puppy wriggled excitedly against him, making those snuffling noises that sounded surprisingly realistic with the new upgrade before pressing its muzzle into the crook of his arm and settling for the moment. Carefully, so as not to step on anyone, Sky turned on his heel and walked back into the front room, a trail of robotic puppies toddling along behind him.
