This was actually a few days ago. In any case, I'm home. Getting out of here is a big deal to me. I think that anybody who I've spoken to during the Christmas holidays has heard at one point or another how I want to get out of here. If my last two posts haven't been obvious enough, I was up in Guelph staying with
Deanne and
Rob. They gave me the grand tour of the town and we all had a good time. Of course, there are photos to accompany our adventures... here we go!
When we first got to Rob's place, Deanne and I decided to play a bunch of board games. It's funny, Dee and I have known each other for fifteen years and can recall the days of PLASP playing games. We tend to get very reminiscent and we sometimes try to relive those memories sans Mrs. Partika and crackers being thrown at me... In the meantime, Rob kept himself occupied with the Gamecube. First there was Bingo.
I win. Deanne wasn't too pleased...
Let me emphasize that win... oh poor Deanne.
Then, there was Scrabble. Then some cheesy 1980s game called Preference. We then gave up and played a few rounds of Donkey Konga with Rob. It's like DDR, but with drums. Now, I've always known that my eye-foot co-ordination was weak, but the same seems to be the case with my hands too.
"Look at me! I can fly!"
I can be innocent too! (All it takes is a halo!)
Rob, the glass faced lagoon!
I love getting these candid shots of Rob... and I know he hates when I take them. HAH! But aren't they cute?
Later on that night, we went to a pool hall to play a few games. With my lack of skill and luck, I lost every single one of them. In my first game, I shot the 8 ball in the pocket halfway through the game. Oops. In the meantime, when Deanne was playing against Rob, she didn't like the fact that Rob was winning. In any case, she did beat the invincible Rob... once.
"Look, Ma! I can steal balls and win too!"
Meet Static, the Robopet. Apparently it these features:
* realistic fluid, biomechanical movements, including walking and running; sitting, lying down and getting up; rolling over
* environmental awareness and interactivity
* IR vision: detects and avoids obstacles and table edges
* sonic sensors: responds to sounds
* motion sensors: responds to human movements
* emits digital animal sounds such as barking, whimpering, growling and panting
* trainable: responds to positive and negative reinforcement
* performs tricks on command
* visual and sonic guard dog mode
* responds to commands from Robosapien™ V2
* sleep and auto shut-off functions
* remote control and autonomous “free-roam” behavior modes
* demo mode
I really wished they had named the Robopet "Bitch" or "Sir-Barks-A-Lot". This robot would have been so much awesomer if it could be trained to bite others... especially people who deserved it. I think I'm feeling creative. Heh. That same day, Dee and Rob purchased this stupid dog with a gift card from Deanne's parents. We were in Sears for TWO FREAKING HOURS because Dee couldn't make up her mind. Anyway, they purchased the dog and we played with it and realized it was useless - certainly not worth $120! Instead, those two wound up purchasing an air hockey table the next day.
That night, we also decided to build a gingerbread house. Unfortunately, it collapsed BEFORE we decorate with the candy.
"Must. Get. Icing. Out. Of. Here. ARGHHHHHHHHH!"
Quite the (for lack of a better word) frosty/snowy roof! Unfortunately, that has consequences...
Oh, we're not done...
And of course, I added sprinkles AFTER it all collapsed...
WHY DO I HAVE BAD LUCK WHEN IT COMES TO ANYTHING GINGERBREAD RELATED?!? Grrr...
Guelph is quite the hippie town. I was amused, thus I shall share photos. YAY!
A last photo, I guess. This is Our Lady of Peace Church Church of Our Lady. It reminds me of Notre Dame in Paris.
I think that's all for now. Bye.
