No, you can get by speaking English in Montréal. I take it you've never been there?

Nope. But i've heard stories from my friend who went there with his parents. Apparently, French are very racist towards the Chinese. That might have been an isolated case. I'm from a town that's mostly french and I never get that.

I've never experienced any racism there before, but I'm sure every city has had experiences with racism before. I would think that there would be discrimination based on whether you can speak the language or not, if anything - and I haven't experienced that in Montréal.

Well, they went and spoke english and they were like "in french please" and they were like "we could speak to you in chinese if you'd like?" lol. It's silly. Them and their seperatist attitude. Anyway, it's probably an isolated incident.

I'm from a town to the far north. Just outside Timmins.
