A comment i posted in news and lj_biz this morning:

LiveJournal, i loved you but i hate what you have become since Six Apart took over. I have just HAD ENOUGH. You've pushed me too far this time. I'm going it alone where i am free to post what i want without fear of idiotic censorship and such cruel insensitivity

If only that was all it was.

The two pictures that were targetted seemed to have been chosen completely at random; there are plenty of frankly far more dubious pictures than those two.

They deleted without warning.

They deleted those users alternate journals too, including a journal of recipes!!

They have refused to give any explanation as to exactly what is and isn't allowed, and why they chose to pick on those two particular drawings, how they came to the conclusion that the characters look underage (when they don't).

Despite several thousand requests from very angry people, they have not yet given any answers, but they have been seen elsewhere making jokes of the whole situation.

It all gives the impression that you're not safe, your content is being monitored and censored, and Six Apart are quite willing to behave irrationally and with no justification for what they're doing.

I haven't posted any underage porn pictures, but who knows how long it will be before my journal gets deleted because i vocally disagreed with Six Apart's policies?

Maybe they thought the pictures were of under age people because they are actually under age in the books that they're taken from. No age was mentioned so it's not hard to come to the conclusion that because they are under age in the books that they're under age in the pictures.

... which it probably is. It's a paranoia i've had since Six Apart took over LiveJournal, and i just wish i'd done something about it sooner.

That's it though, paranoia is an irrational fear that someone is out to get you, in this Six Apart, but it doesn't make it any less irrational.

Whether it's an irrational fear or not, i'm still glad i've made the switch to hosting my own journal. It's something i've wanted to do for a long time. Kinda like buying your own house rather than renting. :)

What about changing the strikeout to a bolding, and the other changes I mentioned in my LJ? That's what actually irked me the most, as it lacks good reason, and appears largely there just to prevent the same rallying call as before. That's underhand.
