Harry Potter (yes, again!)

Right this doesn't make much sense. On MuggleCast this week they claim that the fact there is going to be a Harry Potter theme park is pretty much proof that Harry's going to live. Because after all, why would you want a theme park over a character who snuffed it in the final book ( Read more... )

I'm just re-reading book 1, and there is a reference in there to something (I can't remember what) which Harry would remember for years to come. I read that as "more than 7 years"... although I have a suspicion that when the first one was written, plans for the rest had yet to be formulated.

Yup, i know that quote. It's something like, "In years to come Harry would never remember how he managed to get through his exams whilst expecting Voldemort to burst through a door at any moment". It's a good one for the Harry-Will-Live camp, but i don't think it means too much. Not because JKR hadn't decided yet; i think it's quite possible that the big picture was there all along. I just think it's more of a figure of speech about how Harry felt at the time.

Isn't the first book just delightful to re-read? I really like the first one, and i so hope we see a lot of references back to it in Deathly Hallows.

I am currently re-reading the first book too!

and my 2p ...

it sounds less of a give-away that "In a couple of years or so Harry would never remember how he managed to get through his exams whilst Voldemort burst through a door and decapitated him with a well aimed "Accio Juggular!"

Hey I know you don't know me, but wanted to share the love of Mugglecast. They are quite Amesome. I haven't finished listening to all the podcasts, but have very much enjoyed the many that I have gotten through. You are right about putting ideas up that you hadn't thought of.

I don't think the theme park says for sure Harry will live. Also, anything outside the books to prove theories is not really a good arguement. I think it will still attract fans wheter he lives or dies.
