Dopplr and OpenID

May 28, 2007 08:34

After my post yesterday, Matt the creator of Dopplr came along and invited me! That was pretty unexpected - i didn't realise Technorati had so much power for spying the blogs of the world! heheh!

Anyway, i'm signed up and i need some friends! I have ten codes to give away, if you want an invite, just comment, and make sure i know your email address.

When you're joined up, you enter your home town and other towns you're planning to visit in the future. Dopplr looks for opportunities for you to meet your friends whenever you'll be in the same place at the same time!

Dopplr has also encouraged me to investigate OpenID authentication for MyChores. Because, as bandwagons go, OpenID seems a worthwhile one to jump on! I remember back in the day when LiveJournal was pretty much the only site which supported OpenID. It wasn't much good on its own, but now OpenID has really gained momentum. All AOL/AIM members now have an automatic OpenID, and a lot more sites are now allowing you to authenticate with OpenID. Even Microsoft is looking into it!
