Issue #5 - The Letter
[After all that humiliating cootie business on Valentines' Day, Peter has pretty much been a social recluse for the past couple of days after school. When he makes it home after school this afternoon, though, he finds something interesting waiting for him in the mail. It's an envelope his name written on it, in small, neat handwriting. Almost familiar handwriting, too...
Wait. He's seen that handwriting before! It's---
He scurries back into the house, taking a seat at the kitchen table as he opens the envelope, heart suddenly racing. Now he knows why the handwriting is so familiar. It's a letter from Mary Jane!
...and it's a letter he's read before. This was during their first breakup. And this letter was the first time he'd ever heard MJ say she loved him. How was he supposed to feel, receiving this letter again? At the moment, they were broken up, yes, but... why would Mayfield bother to send him something like this? Was it supposed to be another slap in the face? Another big "screw you" to Peter Parker? His hands tremble as he places the letter back on the table. He's almost tempted to cry, but he'd been doing nothing but moping ever since he got to Mayfield. It's time to actually do something about it.]
