It's not always good to be the boss....

Last night was a tough time for me. I had to fire my first employeee. Although it was his own doing it still affected me. I really liked the guy as a person but his job performance was way below what it should of been. He was really hired (by the previous night manager) to move the trucks around. The only problem with that was he didn't have a license! No license = not covered by our insurance! After 6 weeks he still had no license! That was my final straw. I did wait until after Christmas to give him the bad news....which around there is a GOOD thing! The powers that be usually make us fire right at Christmas! That's the one aspect of this job that I really dislike! I can do it....but it never gets easier.
With all of that said....on to happier thoughts! I'm off until Sunday! We made it through the hectic holiday schedule and survived! I'm so glad that it's over! It's hard to load 5 days of trucks in 2 or 3 days! Next year they say that we are going to do it differently. I sure hope so!
I got my package from the kids on Monday. In case either one of you are reading this....THANK YOU! I loved everything. One thought for you though Amber.....next time...put all the "little items" in a plastic baggie or something! I have been digging through packing peanuts for days to make sure I found everything! Everytime I think I have it all I find another little item! Ways to drive your momma crazy huh?
I got a call from the bar wanting me to work New Years Eve. I can say right now....That's not happening! With my schedule the way it is I'm just looking forward to having a night at home to spend with my hubby! Our "big" plans are to light the fireplace, open a bottle of champaign, talk and just relax! (read between the lines guys!) I've really missed David since I've been back to work. It's tough being on opposite schedules. He's my best friend. So, maybe we will have some quality time to spend together these next few days! I'm looking forward to it.
I bought some new material for some more quilting projects! I'm hoping to get started on next years Christmas projects. The only problem is when I get them finished this early it's tough not to give them away! I'm going to try very hard not to though!
I also have a ton of scrapbooking to do! So much to do....so little time! Oh well...I'll just work on whatever project to match my creative mood. Crystal asked me if I could make a "fairy scarf" for her. I'm excited about that one. I have some ideas but need to refine them a little. Got to love that creative spirit in me!
Not much else to say today....need to make some calls....Lori I haven't forgotten you....or you Susan! I did send you a letter Susan! Hope you got it!
