When Harry says “Only to you”, he’s actually saying “Only to you am I really here”, not anything along the romantic lines of ‘I only love you’, but more that ‘I’m only here when you think of me.’
Aww... that makes it more bittersweet than the way I took it when I first read it. It make my heart wrench thinking about that now.
That was the whole point of the story - Harry has the chance to be free, but chooses Draco, not because it’s right, but because that’s all he really knows now, and that’s all he really needs. I had a battle with myself, trying to decide if I wanted to give it the ending that was probably morally wrong, but happy for H/D shippers, or if I wanted Harry to make the ‘correct’ decision, instead of choosing to go back to the prison he had just been held in.
Hmm... I didn't see his decision as being morally wrong. I saw it more of a way to protect Draco and himself because the world is not a very accepting place. They've both been manipulated by the evil, evil world. I don't see any reason for them to go back.
I wish you had added that in. I think it would've made the end more powerful and emotional. As it is, the ending really tears me apart, but with Draco breaking down... I think the ending would've been deeper and angstier.
I totally agree with you. Going back and reading it, I think it was an element of the story that really should be there. If and when I go back and edit these, I will definitely add that part of the story in. I was going to write that little excerpt and put it into the explanations, but I didn't have time. I will be sure to at least get around to that in the end.
*hugs* Thank you again for actually liking the series (I guess they're not technically drabbles. Most could probably be categorized as ficlets or fics). *smooches*
