more herps for the collection
so after dinner, i had the bright idea of stopping by the pet store because i wanted to look at the savannah monitor that caught my eye the last couple of times i was there. my roomie has been going on and on about ferrets so we looked at some ferrets that they had before moving into the area where the reptiles are kept. shaved ferrets rock, but on to the reptiles. i proceeded to look at the geckos and other lizards that they had available while the roomie talked to a guy about snakes. after not being able to successfully locate the savannah in it's cage, i went to find the roomie who had decided that the snakes he had been shown where too large. i ask a question about viper tailed geckos, we are informed that they have baby boas for sale and to make a long story short, i spent the last 1.5 hours hydrating a brick of bedabeast(coconut fiber), catching crickets that i had allowed to roam free in the 29 gallon aquarium and then cleaning both it and the 10 gallon i purchased to house my two smaller turkish gex. the turks are doing much better in their new enclosure, there is now a nice $250 rainbow boa in the living room and all is well. i think this herp fever is contagious. guess i have to get over my aversion to snakes now. i did play with the little guy, he didn't seem too bad and he can bite, but we've been informed that it shouldn't be all that bad. pictures to come as soon as i find the film i want for the camera. yes, you heard me right, i did say film.
