A locker is a dangerous thing
For in it lay a multitude of threats
Plastic mirrors destroying self-confidence
Textbooks rotting your mind
A jacket, encouraging truancy
And this is only some of what you find
For a locker is the key to our young life
Holding all the secrets that we keep
Fantasies, still ripe in our mind
Dreams, where off the ledge we leap
But along with these hopes
There is a demon inside
It can tear us apart
It knows when we’ve lied
A fake semblance of us
The soul you claim as your own
But as we all will someday learn
It is only a mask on loan
Do not look into your locker today
Because if you do, then I will pray
That life for you has indeed been kind
So when you open it you will find
Just books and papers in your way
And if you don’t, you’ll be destroyed
For the truth will be revealed
Many people die each day
With the pain that their mind feels
