Just a Tid Bit

I was reading my Psychology text book for homework, when I came across something that's relevant to our interests. It's from a section about the Barnum effect, which is when we accept very general but favorable descriptions of ourselves (like those cheesy magazine quizzes we've all taken, haha).

"French psychologist Michael (sic) Gauguelin had similar results when he placed an ad in a Paris newspaper offering a free personal horoscope. Ninety-four percent of those receiving the horoscope praised the description as accurate. Whose horoscope had they all actually received? That of France's Dr. Petiot, a notorious [serial] murderer." -- from Exploring Psychology (Seventh Edition) by David G. Myers
