2014 Serial Killer Mini Bang Sign-Ups!
What are the requirements of a Mini Bang author?
The challenge requires you, as our Mini Bang author, to write a piece that is 5,000 to 10,000 words long about serial killers. In addition to signing up to participate in this Big Bang, we (the mods) ask that you join serialkillerbb and friend the community. If you don’t join and friend the community for updates, you might miss something important!
I've already been writing a story with a serial killer in it. Can I use it?
As addressed in the Frequently Asked Questions, you may! However, you must follow the guidelines below:
- If the WIP is posted anywhere online, please take it down. If it isn’t taken down, you can’t use it.
- If you are writing a Big Bang, the WIP must have less than 3,000 words already written.
- If you are writing a Mini Bang, the WIP must have less than 1,000 words already written.
What genres can I write?
You can write any genre/subgenre or pairing that you would like, as long as the story involves a serial killer! If you want to have character A & B get into a relationship while chasing a serial killer, go for it! If you want to have a space opera with serial killers, go ahead! We would hate to limit your creativity!
Can I write with somebody else?
Of course!
What if I don't want a beta-reader?
For the purposes of our challenge, we ask that each fic be beta-read. If you’ve come to this challenge and your beta is either nonexistent, missing in action or you just want a change, you can find one in two ways: 1) you can visit our Beta Reader sign-up area OR 2) you can PM one of your mods to discuss the beta situation.
What if I don't finish my fic (or fics) by posting deadline?
Take a deep breath and don’t panic! You have until September 1st to finish your piece (or pieces). If you do decide that you need to drop out of the Big Bang, please drop one of your mods a quick little note! We understand that these things do happen, so don’t beat yourself up!
However, just as a common courtesy to the other participants, please try to drop out before July 21st. If you drop out after July 21st, you will not be able to participate in round three.
Can I write more than one?
Sure!
