2010! Time flies....

So Last time I made an entry it was around the beginning of December and it is now almost March (this is becoming a trend) but most of what I have been doing can be summed up into two words: Rogers television.

I've been cranking out around 3-4 shifts a week filming mostly hockey but everything from basketball to funerals and a christmas choir. Big name things have been the Bell Capital Cup, Capital Hoops Classic, and Sens Skills... all of which have been at the Scotiabank Place.

So in December I started off at Rogers filming the Ottawa 67's (OHL, like the kids who get recruited into the NHL) and I've become pretty much a regular on those nights which is a pretty coveted position thats sought after and I just lucked into it.

Dad, Ali, and Cisca all went to Chilie over the Christmas holidays, and I really enjoyed having the place to myself. I wound up filling my days up pulling extra shifts for Rogers and then went to my uncle Remi's for Xmas eve and day. I brought him a little surprise though, Andre came along with me to meet Remi for the first time (even though he was the reason we had met in the first place). Just a few days after that Andre introduced me to his family (mother, father, sister) and then we went to a party afterward.

I got sick right afterward and missed out on new years eve and missed out on seeing Avatar with everyone. Before I got fully better I started up the Rogers volunteering. I got a WoW gamecard from my cousin so despite my ability to avoid playing for the greater part of a year I was hooked again. One of Andre's friends from the party Guillaume contacted me in game and we started hanging out later. So first friend!

So the rest of January was full of more Rogers and hanging with Guillaume until Dad and Ali got back home.

In February I managed to get my act together and finally get my learners again! I went out driving with my dad even! Apparently I did well. Dad and Ali went off to Cuba for valentines day and I did nothing once again celebrating s.a.d (singles awareness day). Won a ticket to see Guns and Roses from Rogers, sat in the Rogers TV box. Bubbles showed up at the encore to sing liqueur and whores which made me feel a little like home. Tamara and I exchanged numbers and discussed going job hunting together and stuff so yay another new friend!

Starting to make some friends at Rogers, first Tamara then got Felicitys number, then Frank's and even went to a party with Frank got to meet his girlfriend who is very nice and went to the famous Elgin Street Diner one night.

On sunday I went skating on the Rideau Canal (the largest skating rink in the world!) and I sucked but I didnt bruise my tailbone for once because Guillaume was there to catch me literally 2 inches from the ground. Tamara showed up a bit later and we skated about 2 km and back got beavertails and then went for Starbucks. Sadly finishing off the night with a big loss from Canada versus the USA.

I never really cared about sports this much but Ive been keeping up with the Olympics mostly because of the work I've been doing at RogersTV. It's pretty crazy just how sports nuts I've started to become which is what makes what happened today more useful and important.

Today I had a meeting with a cinematographer about an upcoming film (I assume short) about possibly being a camera assistant. The guy is from Halifax so thats pretty awesome have a mutual connection but when I say I graduated from NSCAD he asks if I know Tarek Abouamin which I told him "He taught me cinematography" and then bam it was like insta hired! After that he seemed pretty confident in my skills without me even having to show him. I still find it like ridiculous that I spend all these months in Ottawa and the first serious prospect I have is from a Haligonian who knows one of my former teachers.

Things may be looking up for Ottawa!!!

Oh I neglected to mention the biggest news, maybe cause I've been focusing on the positive. Anyway...

So my mom comes home from her 6 month tour in Afghanistan to find that Walter has moved out one month earlier without telling anyone and is officially leaving her. So she comes home to an empty house (I'm gone, cats dead, Walter left) and now has to deal with the responsibility of selling her dream house because she cant afford to keep it and is not working at the moment.
On the plus side, she will probably move to Ontario when the house is sold so I'll get to see my mom again... although she has explicitly stated that of all the people in the world I'm the last person she would ever want to live with (ie: you better stay with your father)
