2006 Year in Review

I actually wrote this yesterday, but didn’t have time to post it until today. :)


2006 Survey

1. What did you do in 2006 that you'd never done before?
Traveled to Brussels

2. Did you keep your new years' resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
I resolved last year to follow the BodyForLife plan as I had five years before, and for the most part I did very well at it. December has been rough and I have lost a bit of ground, but I know with the new year I will be able to renew my effort.

3. Did anyone close to you give birth?
Not only did several of my friends have little ones, but I have several new cousins as well :)

4. Did anyone close to you die?
Thankfully no

5. What countries did you visit?
Lots of fun places in the USA, Mexico, Belgium

6. What would you like to have in 2007 that you lacked in 2006?
A job I enjoy

7. What date from 2006 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
October 28th. The date that Ben and I started dating.

8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?
Losing 45 lbs. Though lately is back closer to 40.

9. What was your biggest failure?
Failing to do well at work in spite of obstacles

10. Did you suffer illness or injury?
No, I’ve been very lucky

11. What was the best thing you bought?
My new dishwasher I think :)

12. Whose behavior merited celebration?
Melissa’s honesty, I just love her.

13. Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed?
Random people from Michigan. *shrug*

14. Where did most of your money go?
To the mortgage.

15. What did you get really, really, really excited about?
That would have to be Ben.
Though the runner-up is the tower as a whole. It’s been a long time since I felt a part of a community to this extent, and I’m so excited that I have so many new friends and that I’ll get to see them more than once a year.

16. What song will always remind you of 2006?
“Suddenly I See” by KT Tunstall

17. Compared to this time last year, are you:

i. happier or sadder? Happier

18. What do you wish you'd done more of?
Dance

19. What do you wish you'd done less of?
Waiting for the “right time” to do things

20. How will you be spending Christmas?
Had Christmas with the fam in Columbus, now visiting Ben in Cali for my birthday and New Years :)

22. Did you fall in love in 2006?
Yes. Yes I did.

23. How many one-night stands?
0

24. What was your favorite TV program?
The West Wing. Hands down.

25. Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year?
No

26. What was the best book you read?
Yeah, that’d be “Knife of Dreams.” (I waited until March to read it ;) )

27. What was your greatest musical discovery?
Basement Jaxx. I guess it was a rediscovery, but it makes me happy.

28. What did you want and get?
Ben.

29. What did you want and not get?
A new job at P&G.

30. What was your favorite film of this year?
Pirates I guess.

31. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?
Today is my birthday. I am 30. I kind of started observing it yesterday though. I got my ear re-pierced, and then I bought myself a present I might not have purchased on a normal day. Then I got to spend the evening with Ben, Greg and Joe just talking and watching football. Today I’ve spent the morning relaxing and getting a few things done. I’ll work out this afternoon and then Ben and I are going out for the evening.

32. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?
Getting the job I’ve been working toward.

33. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2006?
Personal fashion concept - waiting? Clothes that don’t fit well, but not wanting to buy new ones in hopes that those would soon not fit as well.

34. What kept you sane?
My family.

35. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?
I’ll say Orlando Bloom.

36. What political issue stirred you the most?
The Ohio gubernatorial race.

37. Who did you miss?
I miss my family very much.

38. Who was the best new person you met?
Melissa. Maybe it wouldn’t look like it would work on paper, but IRL, it just fits. And I’m so excited because I know it’s just the beginning.

39. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2006:
Stop waiting for the perfect time to do something and just start already.

40. Quote a song lyric that sums up your year:
I don’t think it’s a song lyric, but I like this quote for my year - "Change is the constant, the signal for rebirth, the egg of the phoenix."
