Deerhoof
So...I went to see Deerhoof last night. Ask me anything you want.
Q: Was it completely and utterly awesome?
A: Yes.
Q: Could it have been more awesome?
A: Maybe if they played Cooper, but for all practical purposes, no.
Q: What did they play?
A: Flower, Dummy Discards a Heart, Magic Star...
Q: Tell me about Satomi (the lead singer/bassist?)
A: She is a very tiny Japanese woman who does many wonderful dances.
She plays an instrument that is half the size of her.
She doesn't smile, yet still manages to look extremely happy.
Q: Tell me about Greg? (the drummer / part time keyboardist)
A: He is a very tall, lanky man, but his drum seat is a milk crate, so he is about a foot off the ground.
His drumset is very simple and I have the same ride cymbal as him, which in effect means it's crap, or so it would seem.
He could not be more enthusiastic about drumming.
Conclusion: It was everything I hoped it would be and more. It was really the most entertaining a show could ever be, because they dance more than the Pixies.
Addendum: I must go see them again with Nathan and Liza so we can all dance together.
