Milkman Itinerary
1.Milkman Dead is born in Mercy Hospital after an insurance agent commits suicide off the hospital's roof.
2. At the age of four, Milkma discovers that he can not fly and begins to lose interest in all important aspects of life.
2.5 Long after infancy, Ruth called to Milkman to breast feed and one day, Freddie the Janitor saw one of these sessions and dubbed her son "Milkman".
3. At the age of thirty-two, Milkman wants to move out of his parent's home and decides to rob Pilate with his best friend, Guitar.
4. Milkman leaves his home in Michigan in search of Pilate's gold in a cave near Macon's old Pennsylvania farm. Upon leaving, Milkman rejects Hagar which results in her unsuccessful attempts to kill Milkman.
5. After arriving in Montour County, Pennsylvania, Milkman meets Circe who is an old midwife who helped deliver Macon Jr. and Pilate. Circe tells Milkman that Macon's original name was Jake and that he was married to an Indian girl, Sing.
6. Milkman then heads south to Shalimar, his grandfather;s ancestral home in Virginia. There, Milkman finds that Jake's father (his great-grandfather) was the legendary flying African, Solomon, who escaped slavery by flying back to Africa.
7. After Milkman's findings of his great-grandfather and grandfather's story, Milkman becomes a compassionate, responsible adult.
8. Milkman survives an assassination attempt by Guitar.
9. Milkman goes back to Michigan to inform his father and aunt about his findings and finds that Hagar has died of a broken heart.
10. Milkman goes back to Shalimar with Pilate and they bury Jake's bones on Solomon's Leap. Guitar then shoots at Milkman, but the bullet ends up hitting and killing Pilate.
