Zero Hour (aka Bill Gates is smarter than me)

Relevant lead up info:
1) Trina tells everyone about sign-ups for XBox360: Zero Hour launch party, but we have to bring her as our guest if we get in. Only 1,500 with one guest each will be admitted.
2) Friend of hers gets in, Trina has happy fit since she gets to go. (Did I mention everyone who goes gets a guaranteed option to buy a 360 there and Trina really, really, really wants one?)
3) Day before event start Matt gets tickets in the mail too, although never got an email notification.
4) Matt and Trina go Sunday. Matt has to work Monday, but now I get to go since there is now a wristband available for me (well there are 2 now, Matt's and theoni's).

Anyway to make a longish story short Trina bought a 360 last night (hooray for us!) and I, very stupidly, did not. Very stupidly because while I can use Trina's to play here I could have turned around and sold an item that would have cost me $400+tax at the party on ebay....right now the average going price is $1200. If Matt and I had both done it (if he could have gotten out of work) we'd have made enough on the flip to buy a PS3 later, games for both, and some spending money to spare.

Oh well. I didn't buy gold futures a few years ago or Google stock several months back. I seem to be good at earning a good amount of money but not multiplying it.

As part of the live entertainment Tommy the Clown and his Krumpers were there (Krumping is a style of dance that originated in the Watts/south central part of LA. There is an excellent and entertaining/evocative/etc documentary about these folks called 'Rize' - I suggest renting it). Louis XIV was also there.

Anyway...the event was really fun. I had a lot of fun playing the games (DOA4, PGR3, Ninety Nine Nights (excellent!)), talking to people, watching the live entertainment, hauling bean bag chairs around, and having to prove to Trina for the umpteenth time that I am stronger than I look and wasn't going to drop her precious 360, no matter how heavy it was. For more story see gamingangel's LJ. I am the one with the pictures though!

Unfortunately I didn't think to get a picture of 'Triumphant Trina Returns with 360 in arms', although the pic might not have came out anyway, her smile would have washed out the picture. I have a few more pictures of the general party, but haven't cropped them yet.

We then wound our weary way down the winding 14 highway from Palmdale back to LA.
