A measure of success.

I need to work on my patience.

I need to work on really relaxing more, not just loafing around.

While I could use a new hobby like a hole in the head, I think I have found one that can help me with patience and relaxing. Knitting. That's right. I've finally started knitting. I can crochet and cross stitch and have been doing both since I was in elementary school. I can do swedish weaving, and have been for almost ten years now. I can sew, do various kinds of knotwork, beading, and other sorts of crafty things. But I hadn't yet mastered knitting. I've tried twice before, only to become more frustrated than I thought possible, and giving up before finishing the second row of stitching. Last night I decided I was going to knit. And I've been knitting without any big problems since. I've only cursed twice, which is better than I can say about past experiences with knitting. Both times it was because I had lost a bunch of stitches off of the needle, and a mild bit of panic set in when I found it that way. (It happened after I had set stuff down for a little while.)

So far it's working. I'm successfully knitting. It is relaxing, as repetitive motions generally are. And while I can't tell about the patience thing just yet, maybe just doing something for myself will help in that area. Or maybe I just need to figure out why I'm so impatient lately. I don't know, but I'll take my successes where I can get them, and this is one of them.
