It's really been quiet in LJ land, at least it seems that way from this corner. We had our first snow last night and it was beautiful while it lasted, but the temperatures rose and the snow quickly went from sleet to freezing rain to just cold icky rain. Oh well, soon enough I'll be tired of all the snow we'll have on the ground.
I saw The Mist last night and I can't recommend it enough if you like suspenseful, scary movies that keep you on the edge of your seat. This has the added bonus of also having some storyline depth in its attempt to show the dark and violent side of human nature that desperation can bring out. I'm such a fan of King's short stories that I couldn't be more pleased to see this one join others like, Stand By Me and Shawshank Redemption in being good quality films. Not all (or many even) of King's stories transfer well to film, but Frank Darabont apparently is the man to call when they decide to tackle one - he also did The Green Mile.
According to
IESB, there are a few confirmed castings for Justice League: Adam Brody for Flash, Teresa Palmer as Talia al Ghul, Common as Green Lantern, and Armie Hammer as Batman. Supposedly Megan Gale is confirmed for Wonder Woman.
So this guy playing Batman is 6'5". I have to wonder if he's going to kicking sand in widdle Superman's face. Perhaps they'll just have whoever is cast as Supes wear 4 inch heels. I just can't fathom a Batman who's taller than Superman. Also, for supposedly wanting an all young cast (for sequels) Megan Gale is 31, not exactly ancient except when you consider that Armie is 21. Gale has an incredible body, perfect for WW, but I don't really care for her look otherwise. And maybe I'm just getting old and prudish, but I'm also a little disturbed by her apparent aversion for keeping her clothes on. I have nothing against nude modeling, but a google image search of Gale brings up as many nude shots as clothed ones. If she is to be the new face of this iconic female superhero, I just wish her nudie shots were at least on page 3 or 4.
Who knows. IESB also said that Tom was going to be Supes at one point, they even announced it on TV, and now they say he's completely out of the running. So we really are still at square one I guess, just with more specific names to throw around and tear apart. *g*
Kristin and Allison made their appearance at that a'capella music thing last night. There is a cute account of meeting Kristin along with a couple of pictures posted by one fan on
kristinkruekweb.com. Here's the part where he actually met the girls:
By the time I got my pen there was a small line of people waiting to get the same thing :) I stood there and patiently waited for my turn. 2 minutes later I was talking to both Allison and Kristin and they were signing my "A Cappella Innovations" flyer :) It was the moment of truth :) I introduced myself and told them I was from Bulgaria and that they have tons of fans there. Kristin actually said that she know where Bulgaria was and was quite surprised to hear that Smallville was popular in Eastern Europe. Everything happened so fast! Overall though both Allison and Kristin were super nice to all the fans. Gave a bunch of autographs and greeted everyone that had gone and talked to them. I was one of those lucky people. I think in general Kristin looked really down to earth person. Kind of shy but nonetheless very nice to all people. The whole evening she was smiling, dancing and enjoying herself big time. And last but certainly not least - in real life she's just as gorgeous as she is on TV. So if there are any people out there that actually think she's all "fixed" on TV - they are completely wrong. Her beauty is absolutely genuine. Even my girlfriend agreed with me on that one and let me tell you - that doesn't happen that often :))))
I've been wanting to make an icon post for a long time, mostly because I wanted to make myself work with icons in order to get better at them. Icon making is a whole 'nuther world from the bigger pieces that I usually prefer. I have a LOT of respect for the really great icon-makers I've seen here on LJ. I could never produce the amounts (or quality) that some of them do, but this was still fun, if a bit frustrating at times.
I ended up wanting to unite all of these into one piece - just because it's something I wanted for myself. I get a bit obsessive about these things and putting them in an order that worked for me took a ridiculously long time. I can be such a lunatic about this stuff. Anyway, this is just one large piece, but I do have all the individual files if anyone would like to use any of the icons. You are very welcome to any of them, except the one I made for
fleegull, of course.
Even if you don't want to use any of them, I'd love to hear any feedback on them, even if it's just which one is your favorite (if you have one). If you want one, just ask (and describe it since I didn't number them), and I'll post the link to the individual file for you.
