Sign Language

I went to my first sign language class today. It was so much fun! The only problem with it is that it's miles away so it takes me about 40 minutes to get there, all the classes taking place nearer me were full up so I had to go for this one becasue I really wanted to get started this year.

Anyway the instructor is really nice. I was worried it was going to be this really odd snappy woman I spoke to on the phone, but it's not so that was a huge relief! There are some really nice people taking the class too and some are around my age, there's even a couple who are obviously a few years younger than me. I thought that with it being an evening class it would all be adults and that I'd be the youngest one so that's another huge relief!

I've missed the first two classes so there was a lot to catch up on. Thank goodness I already know the finger spelling alphabet and a few other signs. There were also some signs that I recognised but couldn't remember before (if that makes sense!) so it wasn't like it was three weeks worth of signs that were completely new to me. There was still a lot to learn though but I'm a very visual learner so sign language is an ideal language for me to be learning because it's all visual!

I can do a few sentences already, for example: "That woman is phoning her niece" and "That man is waiting for his nephew", with conversation like that I'll be the life and soul of the party!

Or not.
