So, yeah, I know I'm a huge dork, but lately I've been reading Dr. Horrible fic, and it occurs to me: why is it that most supervillians want to either rule or end the world? It doesn't seem like a very good career move. I mean, in order to be all villainly and evil, I get that you must circumvent the rules of the society. But if you set the rules, then you are no longer a villain. Maybe a tyrant, but how can that be as fun as villainry? I mean, running the world? Gotta be nothing but work, work, work, all the time. And we all know how much paperwork that would require.
If I were a supervillain, I would be in it for the hedonistic ability to basically do whatever the hell I want. Filling out forms to requisition the food for your army of evil henchmen is not something that I would necessarily want to do. The only villian who's got it right is Nolan's Joker, mostly just because he's doing stuff just to watch people's shocked faces. The power-hungry 'villains' need to shape up and realise the amount of responsibility that comes with taking over a country, let alone the world.
As for those who try to end the world: why? Do they not realise that without the world, there will be no one left to torment? No one to compliment them on their wonderful ending of hte world? That they, in fact, will not be there? Ai ji ji...
