So I got a call earlier, just as i was about to munch on my chicken and mushroom pot noodle, it was the school, 'chloes fine' they say....this time it was Alex, and Id better come down, hes had a fall.
I got down there, and he is sat there insisting he fine and what a fuss over nothing, Sue looks at me, and shakes her head, she lifts the dressing over his leg, and i can see almost all the way down to bone, and lots of blood.
Alex at this point is feeling no pain at all, which is adrenaline i expect, He had been playing rugby as he does everyday, and had taken a tackle awkwardly, sending him flying and had hit what we assume is a stone, and the leg just split open. I decide instead of an ambulance to drive him down to the hosp.
We got in there, he was seen by a nurse who put a wet dressing on. By now the pain had set in. so he was seen v quickly by a doctor, who gave him gas and air, a nurse came in and went to work cleaning it up, which made me wince just looking at. then 2 stitches were put in to hold it together, then it was steristripped and glued together, and dressed. Unfortunately he did it on the knee joint and about down about 8 inches, so he isnt allowed to bend his leg, not easy at all, and uncomfortable. anyway, after waiting for him to come down off the gas and air, he was discharged, have never spent such little time in that place before.
He also isnt allowed to play sports (this is the boy who is on rugby, football and basketball teams) or swim for 2 weeks. he is unpleased. So I just just subscribed to the Dr WHo trading cards series for him, that coaxed a smile
my pot noodle is inedible now.....im slightly saddened at this.
