Isn’t it interesting how scents can evoke emotion? I sit now with a stick of dark chocolate nearby and that rich aroma brings a sense of contentment, yet the heavily floral scent of the perfume someone spilled in the ladies room on this floor brings forth only annoyance. The various aromas that emanate from my mother’s kitchen bring forth calm while the sickeningly sweet smell of a certain weed burning never fails to anger and frustrate. Smell triggers memory triggers emotion. This is as it should be, but sometimes don’t you wish this particular sense came with an off switch?
