100 Words - Day 17

Sep 17, 2007 16:54

Inside me ticks a clock only I can hear. It counts off the days, weeks, months, and years. It says there’s time yet for this, protests I’ve grown to old for that, ticking ever closer to the time I’ll wear a purple hat. Sometimes it ticks ever so soft, other times it tocks loud enough to curl my toes in their socks. Its steady pace is meant to remind me I must stay on task, but most often I’d like nothing more than to turn it back. There’s just no stopping the hands of time. Biological clocks don’t have rewind.

Side note: How very cool to open the 100 Words website today and see one of your August entries featured on the main page, Karion 13.
