After buying a wedding dress at Filene's Basement's "Running of the Brides," Brandon and I swung by the Granary Burying Grounds since the gate was actually open for a change. It was a fitting place to stop since I was dead tired.
Now for a bit of history: Granary is the final resting place of Paul Revere, Sam Adams, John Hancock, and several Boston Massacre victims. The cemetery also hosts a large Quaker population. Quakers often adorned their tombstones with an image of a skull and angel wings. The skull signifies death, which comes to all. The angel wings represent heaven and eternal life. I was fascinated by seeing the evolution of this depiction throughout the cemetery. The last two pics are Sam Adams grave and me having fun with light and shadows.
