Summary: Written for bookaddict43 for serenity_santa. Kaylee unwisely breaks off her and Jayne’s relationship when the Tam’s board Serenity. Jayne contemplates leaving the ship. River sees both his and Kaylee’s pain, and decides to take matters into her own hands. Told from River and then Kaylee’s POV.

Also: I originally wrote another fic for you ( Exhaustion and Labour), but was worried it would be too... angsty for a Christmas fiction. So I only have the first part up. But if you like it, I will finish the second part as well and post it.
