The Weekend

Mar 20, 2006 10:46

Rebecca and Kyle left on Saturday and I already miss them! Kyle is seriously considering moving here, he would stay with us when he had interviews and such and possibly live in our spare room until he found an apartment. He is such an amazing guy, so nice and funny. He and Ben met at Allison's wedding and really hit it off, they are like male-soulmates!

They got in on Wednesday and we took them out to Thai Ginger-amazing of course. Kyle fought me on the bill and won only because the stupid waiter handed it to him because he's a guy. When we got home, the boys watched Ben's Netflix movie "Buffalo Soldiers" some movie with Joaquin Phoenix in it. Rebecca and I settled down to watch America's Next Top Model and drank Peach Champage.

Thursday, I got off of work at 1:00 (because my boss rules, I had asked to get off an hour early and she said, why don't you get off of at like 1? awe-some). Ben had wanted to get off work at the same time, but he had a conference call at 4. I took Rebecca and Kyle to Lloyd Center for shopping. I spend $115 at Forever 21 buying new tops for work and cami's for my see-through tops. Then we walked by Bath and Body Works and they were having a huge sale, I restrained myself to only buying the $5 spritz. Rebecca and I both fell in love with the new Pear scent, and I decided it was okay for me to buy it too since we don't live in the same town anymore. I refuse to buy the exact things my friends have because I don't like copying, but in this instance, it'll work!

We got to Portland City Grill JUST in time to get a front row seat for the Gonzaga/Xavier game. Right after we sat down the room got packed so we totally lucked out. We started ordering amazing $2 appetizers (crab cakes, ahi tuna, spring rolls) and drinks. Ben got there after the first round and we had an amazing time...Gonzaga won and we were able to yell and such because others were (I had been restraining myself the whole game until other people started getting into it too). We went home and hung out and I was exhausted at 9 so I went to bed early.

Friday, I got off work at 3(Ben got to get off early at 1) so Rebecca and I could shop more. We went to 23rd while the boys decided to go out shopping on THEIR own. I took her to all the kitcheny/homey stores because she is the culinary genius that she is. I broke a $2.95 cup at Kitchen Kaboodle, thank God she bought an $80 knife there so I didn't feel so stupid! I bought the linen napkins I had eyeballed earlier at Pottery Barn. I'm looking for a Crimson-y table cloth, but they only had what I wanted as a table runner. Saw a bad car accident (which is weird because you can only go like 25 mph on 23rd, like even if you wanted to speed, there is a constant flow of cars on that street), and went home to find that the boys hadn't come back yet. They come back with arm loads of bags just like Rebecca and I do. They were just sooo fucking cute! "oh my god look at these shirts!" And trying them on for us! Freaking Ben bought a pair of $60 shoes that matched one of his coats perfectly and he had point that out ("look how well they match, Kyle said he'd buy them for me if I didn't get them, so I had to get them") Boys are so funny.

Friday night, Ben grilled up some cheeseburger and home made french fries (I made the fry sauce). Rebecca and I drank 2 bottles of wine (so 1 each). Then we went to the grand opening of a new McMenamins (they have a bunch of them here and they brew their own beer). It was okay, the service sucked and they weren't even busy, so they have no excuse. Rebecca "accidently" walked out on her tab of 1 drink and an appetizer (they didn't take her freaking card when they asked if she wanted to start a tab, and the service was shitty, so she capitalized and forgot that she didn't pay). Drink count: 1 bottle of wine and 1 gin and tonic.

Dan meets up with us and we go to my club. There is a line around the block (both for general admission and for VIP, so even VIP's were waiting to get in). Well, I'm like above VIP:) I'm like Extremely VIP:) So, Italian Mike (both of the door guys are named Mike, so there is Italian Mike and Black Mike), lets us in immediately, we go up to VIP and since I know the bartender, we're getting double, even triple the alcohol we're supposed to, AND she's upgrading our liquor for free! So, I drank 3 (read:6 actual) redbull and grey gooses/geeses! Drink count:1 bottle of wine, 1 gin and tonic, and 6 redbull/greygooses/geeses.

Dan was hungry afterwards so we went up to Barcode (an afterhours place to eat at) and there was a huge line there too. Well, with this being the night of no lines, I go to the doorman and ask if they do club courtesy's (clubs in the same area will hook up eachother's employees), they did, so we got in ahead of the line again. I had an amazing macaroni and cheese, like expensive cheese and shit was in it. I am so impressed that I didn't blackout, have the spins, or throw up that night. I think the pitstop at Barcode is what saved me from all of the above. Fell asleep at 4:30.

Saturday, we had to wake up at 10 to go out for brunch. For some reason, I woke up at 9:30. Had a slight hangover, just felt really dehydrated. Got everyone up (except Rebecca who had been up to and reading one of my books), and did the shower thing without the hair washing (saves me so much time) and drank tons of water and tea at Kornblatts and introduced everyone (except Kyle who had a bagel and then strawberry cheesecake for breakfast:))to my favorite item, the handsliced Nova with an everything bagel, sundried tomato cream cheese, tomato, onions, and capers. YUMMY.

Ben went to work for a couple hours while we did a little more shopping (cause we hadn't spent ENOUGH money yet!) Found these amazing peekaboo/with a bow high heels for $20 at one of the cute boutiques on 23rd. We had to hit up Victoria's Secret before we left, so I bought a new nude bra (a push up!:)) and something to sleep in;) Kyle went to Pac Sun and had to spend a certain amount of money to get $25 off his purchase...Rebecca had been eyeballing a white tank top with some cute embroidery for $26.50...and Kyle comes up to us and says "pick out a piece of jewelry, I have to spend like 26 cents to get my deal" so I mention Rebecca's tank top and he goes "get it!" but it's 26.50, "i don't care", so he spent $1.50 to get nothing off what he bought for himself, but he didn't care, he just wanted something for free!

And then they left after we fit in some Grey's Anatomy DVD's (I've now converted Kyle as well). Ben and I had so much fun with them. This sucks. I'll get to have Bailey for like a year though! Rebecca will be living with Lindsey for the summer until she goes to culinary school and then when she leaves, I get Bailey until she graduates! So that's my silver lining, along with Kyle probably moving here, and Rebecca thinking of doing so after she graduates.

And now it's back to my life of working.
