Toronto Day 7

Apr 07, 2006 04:25

Today was the day to buy souvenirs and any other last minute items. Ian went out first thing this morning to buy tickets to the "Blue Man" show at the Panasonic Theatre on Yonge. Kriss and I had lunch one last time at Sushi Place. I had a HUGE sashimi plate (I tried raw octopus and scallop!) that came woth rice and miso. It was really good. I'm proud of the fact I tried sashimi on this trip. It was cold and rainy off and on all day.

By the end of the day I was completely soaked to the bone. After lunch Ian went around town with me one last time, so I could make last minute purchases at the stores I had found and liked during the trip. Most of the stops were in Kensignton Market and Chinatown. Chinatown is so different and yet so cool. I bought a lot of Japanese stuff for my kitchen, like miso bowls, cooking chopsticks, and a bento box. I also got some Meltykiss (green tea and chocolate mints), a box of instant Pocari Sweat, a quart of Green Tea ice cream (to share) and a couple of boxes of Milky. I went to Kikiwai one last time too, and got a tee-shirt, and  a plushie among other things.

My stuff from Little Tokyo on Augusta

All of my many Kikiwai purchases

We got back to the hostel and rested for awhile before we left for the theatre. We went downtown to catch the subway to the theatre. I've ridden the subway before in St. Louis, but this seemed more genuine to me for some reason. I felt pretty safe the whole way. It was a really short walk from the subway stop to the theatre. The theatre itself was industrial looking, and yet very technology oriented. The show truly overloaded the senses. There was music, lights, drums, laughter, and a whole lot of fun. It's so hard to describe the performance! It was mind-boggling really. After the performance, the Blue Man Group and the band were in the theatre lobby to meet everyone, and take photos. Ian got one fo the Blue Men to kiss me on the cheek, since her forgot his camera. While it was still wet, we stamped it in our program books. I bought a long sleeved tee, a CD, a DVD of the Complex Rock Tour, and a photobook. It was a really great night.
