There goes my life...

Competition season has taken over my life! But...y'all know I love it. Yesterday was the George Wythe competition. The girls did awesome in practice and did almost as well in the actual performance...the band did well too, so we were all pleased. We came in 2nd overall in class. The 1st place band beat our band in every caption...except color guard. The girls were happy about that! As has been the case the other weeks, they have beaten guards bigger than them. It's a great feeling for them, and for me. It was a really good day overall, despite this major sunburn I have on the right side of my face. Not the left, not the whole face, just the right side. It's quite amusing. Anyway, there's a week break before our last competition. It'll be werid not making the drive to Honaker on Thursday...I can only imagine the talk that will go on in my absence. I have a feeling there will be discussion about "accidents." That is going to be the running inside joke for the rest of the year for sure! That and running from Owlbears.

Anyway, the other thing going on is with my Mom. She went to UK on Wednesday to get her staples out but found out she'd have to have surgery again the next day because the surgeon thought he didn't get one of the culprits. So, she comes back home and she and dad went up thursday. Her surgery was moved back an hour and she spent about 10 hours in the recovery room because they didn't have a clean room for her in the hospital...but she stayed positive throught. Interestingly enough, the surgeon said yet again he could not find that supposed trouble spot. Hmm...maybe it's because God took care of it for him.

Since it was only 8 days from her first surgery to this one, her neck is really swollen and she's not talking as well. But, as I said before, she's staying really positive and trying to recover the best she can. She got to come home Friday morning and has been taking it easy ever since.

Speaking of UK...I bet Lexington was CRAZY last night. Go Cats!

Basically...if I don't work with you, if I don't see you in my places of work, or if you're not family, I don't see you and certainly don't get much of a chance to talk to you. I'm really sorry about that, but things will be calming down here in a couple weeks. I'm looking forward to catching up!

Cuidense til then!
