I really do not like the horror genre so Jared and Jensen is the ONLY reasons I am even thinking about wathing any of these films, but it's not enough to convince me. (I just think it's boring. It doesn't exite me at all... for some reason it doesn't scare me, so I am just bored when I'm watching it... )
Nope! Sadly, no!

Ironically, I probably wouldn't have bothered with My Bloody Valentine if Jensen hadn't been in it, but I probably would have watched Friday 13th even if Jared hadn't been in it. Yet I enjoyed MBV regardless of Jensen being in it (although he was a real treat!) and Jared turned out to be the main reason to watch F13.

Dude, I TOTALLY agree. And I'm a wee tad afraid to voice it because I'm sure me being a Jensengirl will immediately make me too biased to form an opinion of F13 but I was REALLY disappointed. I don't know if it was just because it was a download rather than the cinema experience, but there was NO tension, all the jumpy moments were so telegraphed and obvious, and Jason didn't actually SCARE me. Like, two days before I saw the movie, I was IMAGINING Jason might be lurking in the hallway or something out of anticipation for how scary I thought it would be, but I wasn't scared ONCE during the narrative, and slept like a baby last night ( ... )

It takes A LOT in horror to scare me*, so I'm not really surprised that I personally wasn't scared by Jason, but I wanted to at least feel scared on behalf of the victims (if that makes sense) and I just... didn't. Like I said, I think he did a little too much posing and posturing for my liking, as if he was trying to appear as what scary should look like. I felt so much better about him once he actually got down to the business end of killing, rather than standing around trying to look menacing. He felt more like 'Jason' then, and I enjoyed watching him kill those annoying kids maybe a little too much a lot.

*I did jump a couple of times during MBV though, I have to admit! And not even at purely 3D parts!

That's why films like the original version of Halloween and Scream are so successful - because we give a shit about the characters. Hell, Drew Barrymore as Casey was only in the film for twelve minutes, but I wanted her to live so badly because she was such a great character the short time she was in it.

So Jason is the killer in the remake? Not his mother?

I am in total agreement with you about Casey in Scream. We should at least care about the characters, even incidental ones.

This version of F13 was a retelling, rather than a remake. Jason's Mom had indeed had her killing spree, but this was alluded to in the first few minutes of the film in a flashback, rather than being the main 'first film' of the series. Jason also went from the burlap sack to the hockey mask in this film, rather than it taking a couple of films for him to get there.

Yeah, it wasn't the best F13 movie out there (that would still be the first for me) but I've seen most of them in the Movies and I enjoyed this one. And I didn't feel like this movie 'ruined' the F13 seirise -that was the feeling I had after watching the Halloween remake - and also with the TX chainsaw remake (so I was worried since a lot of the TX chainsaw people were involved in this)

The crowd when I went to see it was odd...

Yeah, it was enjoyable enough, but I just... expected more, I guess. There were a few too many things wrong with it that overbalanced what they actually did get right.

I wasn't impressed with TX Chainsaw remake either, original was so much better.

I wish we saw less of Jason... that would have gone a long way for me.

I hated TX Chainsaw - but I did finaly get through it.
