You wouldn't like me when I'm angry

I debated whether to lock this post and make it friends only, but in the end I decided to leave it unlocked, as I know the EDS newsletter can only link to open and public blogs, and perhaps other newly diagnosed people are kinda going through the same things I am.

The one where I whine self-indulgently for a while )

Thanks so much for this!

It took me 37 years to figure out I had EDS on my own after being sent home all my life with; "It's just growing pains" "You need an antidepressant" "You have an eating disorder" and my favorite: "There's nothing wrong with you".

And as for IBS. It doesn't fucking exist.

EDS folks have a very sensitive GI tract, and mine calmed down COMPLETELY when I got rid of GLUTEN, COW DAIRY, and REFINED SUGAR. The sugar had to go since it aggravates hypo glycemia, and I substitute goat dairy (butter, milk, yogurt, cheese) for awful cow dairy. And GLUTEN is the worst!

Completely indigestible to humans, it causes an immune response like that to any foreign substance. (this also happens to folks that don't have celiac )It kills your gut by inciting your immune system to attack your viscera, and made me suffer ataxia (dizziness) sleeplessness, night sweats, and a distinct interruption in cognitive function. My brain shuts down, and I can't stay awake or even stand up from the dizziness when I get even a trace of it now.

To get yourself off gluten, you must buy whole foods, and only packaged foods that are processed in a gluten free facility.

I'd be happy to share recipes, and the best rice pasta etc. I now make a banana cake that is gluten free, cow dairy free, and sugar free (fruit juice sweetened).

I think EDS patients hate doctors more than anyone, and with good reason!
