Well, I'm registered for Red Raider Orientation, and I'll be going for one of their one-day sessions on May 21st. I'll be signing up for classes, getting advised, taking placement tests, etc. I've been thinking a little about what I want to take- probably a biology class Ok, shit. I finally really read the course descriptions of the required biology/microbiology classes- I'm going to be taking way more writing intensive classes than I wanted. This suuuuucks. And most of them are biology classes, not microbiology. Anyhow, aside from that: I'm leaning more and more toward wanting to learn Italian instead of doing another year of French. So I might take the first semester of Italian. A humanities/multicultural class I'm interested in is Classical Mythology. I love mythology, so I definitely want to take that. Maybe a speech class? I'm not looking forward to that, but am debating taking it to get it over with. So that's 9 hours... a science class (either a chemistry class or a biology class [and those first two biology classes are both writing intensive!]) would bring the hours up to 13. To get to 15 hours, I could take something either fun/interesting, or easy enough that I can slack off somewhat. I'm ready to dive right into my classes. Or maybe a math class? I only need one more class, probably trig.
Also- I need to contact somebody about how my chemistry classes and my biology class will transfer. If the chemistry classes I've taken so far don't equate with their chemistry classes, I won't even bother with my chem II class this semester. Or maybe I will, IDEK. My government and chemistry classes start on Tuesday, and the history class is distance learning.
Next month, on February 15th, I'm going for the admitted student visit day. There will be presentations from the academic programs, and programming from other departments. Then, tours of campus, housing, and the rec center. I'm excited! :)
Reunion will be mid-July in... guess where... Lubbock! So, we'll be going up there for that.
Finally, move-in starts on August 21st, and classes start on the 26th. Welcome week is the 21st-27th.
So that all equates to 4 trips to Lubbock within the next 8 months!
As far as getting ready for Tech... I've applied for housing, signed the contract, but I still need to send in the deposit ($400! D:) before I can select a room/roommate/meal plan/etc. I'm also planning on getting started on my FAFSA, either today or very soon. The general scholarship deadline for transfer students is March 1, so I've got plenty of time- just as long as I don't get distracted with school this semester! I also need to contact admissions or... somebody, to get my primary email switched. I think they still have an email address on file that I used my senior year in high school for college stuff. I haven't accessed it in forever, and I'm pretty sure it's been dumped. So if they're sending stuff to that one, I can't get it.
As ever, Wreck 'em Tech! ♥
