I was far too ambitious in the kitchen this evening. I decided that I would try to make a coconut-pineapple sauce and rice. Simple, right? Not in my life. By accident I burnt some berry juice that was on the stove (I hope I didn't ruin it!), made a disaster of the counter tops, and to top things off, I BURNT THE RICE. I had to open the pot of rice outside in order to not set off the fire alarm. The end product was not very delicious, as I had hoped.
I am such a failure.
In other news...
I spent most of Saturday at "MenntóMUN", a model UN Security Council. To my surprise it was alot of fun. When I first started, I was completely confused and lost, (I missed the introduction session). But within no time it all started to make some sense, and I really got into my role (representing Quatar!) There is something exhilirating about dressing up in fancy business clothes, following fancy rules, and debating matters which are way out of your jurisdiction. Ghana and I totally bonded over being left out of the European Union, and France called the U.S. an "old woman" in response to the criticism that we were all a bunch of "Clucking Chicks". After 8 hours of session (with many breaks) we went to meet the PRESIDENT OF ICELAND. Yep. staredome. I mean stardom. I wish he was MY president. We totally took the free soap from the presidents house. Great guy, great place. Will get pictures soon I hope.
On top of all that...
I saw the Northern Lights!!! Patsy called me right as I was putting together a hotsauce-sandwhich and I switched off all the house lights and ran outside to catch the dancing green strip of light in the starry sky. Then Patsy and her friend Hulda picked me up and we drove until we were away from the city lights, and the sky was amazing. Vast and clear, except for the stray aurora borealis.
Sunday.. Harvested Barley (not in silence!!!! Hurray!!) had amazing ice-cream, went swimming with the sister and the sister's boyfriend, and went berry picking on my own-some. Failed to cook, write, socialize, or do homework.
Cheers!
