[Background]
http://harrypotter.wikia.com/wiki/Luna_Lovegood

[Personality] As hinted by her nickname 'Loony Lovegood' that was bestowed upon her by her Hogwarts peers, Luna Lovegood is a witch who can be almost entirely defined by her eccentric qualities. She believes in the unusual theories put forth by her father's publication, The Quibbler (a paper that Rita Skeeter wouldn't use to manure her lawn, which says a great deal of the paper's credibility in the wizarding world), like the existence of Crumple Horned Snorkacks, Blibbering Humdingers and the Rotfang conspiracy involving a mixture of Aurors, Dark Magic and gum disease. Her wardrobe is comprised of out of the ordinary accessories such as dirigible radish earrings and butterbeer cork necklaces. Rather than rationality or logic, Luna's philosophy and life as a whole is entirely rooted in faith and her imagination, a belief system that was strongly influenced by seeing her mother's death when she was nine.

Although she is taunted and bullied for being odd and behaving in ways not typically accepted by her society, Luna doesn't change her ways, remains true to who her personality and really knows herself quite well. This leads to her being relatively friendless at Hogwarts until she joined Dumbledore's Army, her lack of friendship highlighted in HBP: "I enjoyed the meetings, too. It was like having friends." Her lack of action when provoked by her classmates who insult her and steal her possessions may strike others as being overly passive, but the fact of the matter is that she doesn't let it bother her. The events starting at the Department of Mysteries show that Luna possesses a strong streak of bravery when confronted with difficult situations.

While she is described as being serene and dreamy, quite detached from the world and residing in her own daydreams, Luna is by no means completely out of touch with reality and her introvertion leads her to be very observant of others. Luna is well aware of the fact people think she's weird, as betrayed by her mentioning of her nickname and her wonderment that Harry chose to hang out with not very cool people like herself and Neville on the train ride to Hogwarts. She has another and perhaps awkward tendency to say brutally honest truths, such as mentioning to Ron that his date Padma Patil really didn't enjoy their time at the Yule Ball together because he wouldn't dance with her. As for her perception of her surroundings, Luna is able to see through Harry's Polyjuiced disguise as a Weasley cousin simply by the expression on his face. While she may behave like a space case at times, she's really quite sharp and intelligent - or Luna wouldn't have been sorted into Ravenclaw, after all.

She can be a source of comfort to people - which is shown in three separate times in the series: when she comforts Harry Potter over Sirius Black's death, Hermione Granger when she wept over Ron Weasley, and Ollivander during their imprisonment in the Malfoy Manor. Her extreme openmindedness and honesty is a double-edged sword. While it has lead to various trials and tribulations in her life, it also allows Luna to be very accepting of people, but not naive about their motivations.

[Specialties/Abilities] Luna is a talented witch, who was trained in a variety of subjects at Hogwarts, including Defense Against the Dark Arts. During duels, she's very levelheaded, and escaped with minor injuries during the battles she participated in during the Second Wizarding War. She also has a talent for magical inventions, and has an interest in magical creatures... well, creatures and nature as a whole.

In the Somarium, there is a cap placed on her powers, making it a bit harder for her to cast spells, especially the more powerful nonverbal spells. Luna won't be using magic offensively on any Somarium's citizens unless her or someone else's life is in danger, but to help/protect them or herself.

[Affection] Affections are allowed from all genders, but I can't guarantee if she'll really provide a satisfactory or all too romantic response.

[Fighting] Fight and injure without prior permission is fine, but contact me if you want to kill her. She isn't really... scared of death, being extraordinarily 'zen' and accepting of that stage of life, but Luna will fight back if she's being attacked. After all, she wants to live to see her father again, discover unknown magical creatures and the like.

[Other Permissions] Telepathic characters can read her mind, but there's not really a point since Luna is prettyy honest, though she'll hold some things back if it means jeopardizing her or somebody's safety if she's aware of that threat. Fourth-walling... I'm going to say no simply because she'll probably ask your character a whole host of questions pertaining to the matter, and not really a storyline I want to go through. But if you have any other ideas that could avoid that, hit me up. Your character is free to at least recognize that she's from the Harry Potter series.

[Other Facts] Dislikes dancing, likes painting.
