Bus Stop [Part 1]

Jan 22, 2008 16:43

To be able to see the exact same courier van, once in the morning, and once in the evening, at two totally different places, while doing the same thing (waiting for the bus), that is how small Dunedin is. Unless you want to call it fate.

Talking about fate...

Girl: I'll marry you.
Boy: ...Forget it.
Girl: Eh? Why?
Boy: It's easy enough to say, but that's four years from now. Neither you nor I will remember this.
Girl: Is that what you really think?
Boy: Yeah. It's like they say, people are fickle creatures. There'll be lots of great guys at the university you're going to. You'll forget about an old, washed-out guy like me in no time flat.

Girl pauses, and then...

Girl: I like your sleepy face.
Boy: Huh?
Girl: And your bad taste in ties, occassional stubble, your bargain-bin socks...

Boy turns around so that he faces the front of the bus. Girl sits behind him and continues...

Girl: How bland you are, how you're dramatic, how distant you are, and how you smile at everyone. That you like stag beetles and rhino beetles and college students. That your hands are kind of pretty, and you smell like tobacco...

Boy sits with his eyes wide open. Girl continues, hugging him from behind.

Girl: I've liked you everyday for the past three years. So please, don't say you'll forget. When I graduate from college, I'll meet you at that bus stop under the sakura tree, and on a day just like this one, we'll take the bus home together. And then, I'll marry you, okay, sensei?

Are you melting yet? Stay tuned for Part 2!
