Working on it...

Jul 16, 2009 11:05

If I were to say that I have been outrageously busy and couldn't find the time to post to this journal, I'd be lying.  It's summer and that means several things this year.

1) No band, no music to memorize, no reason to stay inside with an old instrument.
2) Home all day + All other siblings over 18 + Menopausal Mom + DuPont by day, Construction worker by night Dad = Sudden Influx of chores
3) No schedule, no reason to sit down and do anything unless I really really feel like it
4) No volleyball until my appeal is approved so exercise is biking around my town and across the bridge and walking whenever it catches my fancy
5) Arranged meetings with friends only

So, as you can see, I have room to neglect this shady part of my Internet usage for lazing around and tossing around thoughts but never really doing anything.  I've been working up stories for my comic, but never actually writing them out.  I've also been throwing around plot for a project from last summer that was thrown away before my mother could find it and I decided to rewrite because of its potential.  And then there's all the reading I try to do before I get distracted by something shiny.  It happens.  Frequently.  Did I mention that my wisdom teeth are making their existence well-known to me through pain?  Yeah, boo...

Anyways, my book list includes 1984 by George Orwell, The Bell Jar by Sylvie (Or is it Sylvia?) Plathe, Cut, American Born Chinese, You Don't Know Me, and I few others that I can't remember at the moment.  I'm still building up my list by periodic visits to the county library nearest me, and books borrowed from the library of Bethany as well as gifts from people that I'm getting around to reading.  A lot of the books were or are in the process of being interesting.  Thankfully, my summer homework from private school is done and just needs written on the forms.  Hoorah.

I'm driving!  Much to several people's shock ("You just *can't* be that old!), I'm fifteen and have my permit.  I've driven my brother's small, happy car around town several times, my mother's behemoth in a parking lot and back from the mall (scary that was), and that's it so far.  I plan on waiting as long as possible before driving my dad's huge truck and my parents won't let me drive across the bridge or on the freeway yet.  Speaking of the freeway, I'm going to Pittsburgh this weekend.

My older sister is going to a camp that requires being driven to the city on Friday and being picked up Sunday or Monday, thus my parents decided to make it a vacation for themselves and myself.  Well, it was either go to Pitt or one of my grandparents' houses which would not have been ideal.  I was going to have a borrowed laptop, but said laptop runs Linux and has no wireless card, so boo.  Anywho, I'll be gone and have my parents and several books for company.  Can't wait.

I'm going to try to get some things actually written down and maybe do some work, so I am working, just slowly and with large spaces in between.  Hope everyone's having a good summer!
