I bought a MacBook, and an iPod nano, and I love them both!!
Everything is seriously, so much EASIER!! Like that little green button that flashed on my keyboard there to remind me that, yes, I in fact put the CapsLock on. It's the little things in life, ya know?
I also bought Bill the huge-mega-big 80G iPod that he says he'll never fill, but I'm betting that he'll make a valiant effort to do so anyway.
It's so funny, getting used to using an Apple again.. All of those little things that you wonder with a PC, like "why can't I just do it this way?" Or, "how come this is SO complicated?" are all taken care of. You can drag & click anything anywhere pretty much.... Everything you want or expect it to do at any given time, it does. It's like it anticipates it!
Ok, I'll get off my little soapbox now. I am happy, and I'm regretful that it took me so long to "move".. that is all.
In other news:
I think I got one of the all-time best compliments ever the other day.
I was sitting on campus, studying for my last two finals for what I think is my most challenging professor... when who should walk but but said professor.
He sits down and we start chatting. He asks me what I plan to do with my bachelor's when I'm finished (BS in Health Administration - btw). I tell him that I've landed an internship with the director of Behavioral Health Services at one of the local hospitals and I'm hoping to make some connections there and possibly get a job offer out of that. I also tell him that I've been considering going on for my Masters in Psychology, or if we move down to North Carolina, like we're thinking of, UNC Greensboro has a really sweet looking MA in Sociology with a Criminology concentration.
He then proceeds to tell me that he thinks I should just skip the Masters altogether and go straight for my PhD!!! For a minute, I was dumbfounded. I didn't know what to say. He explained that Masters degrees usually only help to get you a better paycheck in your field as normally it's a specialization in what you're already doing. He goes on about how he thinks I'm brilliant, much too modest for my own good, and that he thinks I don't even realize how intelligent I am. PhD programs apparently, if you're accepted, pay for your tuition & most will pay a stipend as well.. THIS, I did not know about! He also said that I'd be top on his priority list of recommendation letters to write! He's definitely the person that I want in my corner, seeing as he has a ton of experience in the field, is well-published, and has connections everywhere.
Gots lots to think about...
As for now, I'm done with this semester... I start up Spring classes on the 7th and I start my internship that week as well... so, I took next week off of work so I can have a break from both school and work. In that time, I have to pretty much finish packing my stuff because we'll be moving into the house very soon hopefully! =)
