Who needs the 48 contiguous states?
So, it's official: I'm moving to Hawaii in August and will be starting graduate school in September. How ridiculous is that? I've never lived completely on my own before -- at college, I was always in the dorms where those mundane necessities like electricity and water and Internet access were all taken care of for me -- and I decide that the first time I do so, I should be nearly 5000 miles away from everything I know. To be fair, Stephen and Niki are there, and both have been beyond generous in terms of helping me out with the upcoming transition... but it's not quite the same as having Dad only a few hours away, ready to drive over at a moment's notice to fix a leaky sink or show me how to do my taxes. I know I'm 25 years old (a whole quarter of a century! yikes!), but most days I still feel like I'm barely 15. For better or for worse, this move is going to force me to become a Full-Fledged Grown-Up.
