Interesting Fact: Hawaii Edition
Did you know that Queen Liliuokalani, the last reigning Hawaiin monarch, was married to a native of Schenectady, New York? Tell me that's not the most smashing thing you've heard all day.
Also -- and Julie, you should appreciate this -- I learned that hukilau is an actual word. As in the song, "'Cause we're goin' to a hukilau! A huki, huki, huki, hukilau! Everybody loves a hukilau! A huki, huki, huki, huki, huki, huki, huki, huki, huki, hukilau!" If that isn't a reason to give Leigh Rose Janes a call, I don't know what is. (Jules, you want to know what other semi-foreign song has been stuck in my head all day? "Als die kleine Jane gerade achtzehn war, führte sie der Jim in die Dancing Bar..." Oh, what I wouldn't give for the good old days of Herr Simpson's German class. ;) )
Also also, I'm told that if I were ever to take up writing emo songs, my first hit should be called "PeptoBismal Cotton Candy."
