Hello Spring!
Spring announced it's presence quite loudly last night. Loud enough to wake me up! We had a rain storm last night. Usually rain here isn't too intense, and there's no thunder or lightning, so rain is usually a long-lasting, quiet affair. But last night....
I woke up around 1:30 last night to the very loud sound of rain. It sounded like someone had several pitchers of water and were pouring them out right by my ears. I realized I had left a window open in the next room so I got up to close it. The sound didn't change. I realized that the water was coming in from my downstairs skylight - the one by all my electronic equipment (tv, tivo, stereo, etc).
I raced downstairs and tried to turn off the electricity at the surge protector. Between the water coming down and the furniture/electronic equipment, I couldn't turn it off (I did lose my glasses inthe process, which didn't help since I'm fairly blind without them). I ran over to the Fuse box and turn off the electricity that way. I put out pots and pans (etc) to try to catch the water. Once the heavy rain stopped, I tried doing some cleanup, but without light, it was hard to do. Needless to say, I ended getting quite soak in the process.
So this morning, I called in late to work so I could clean up. I still need to move furniture and let the carpet dry better. Hopefully, I'll be able to come home early to take care of it.
*sigh* On the brighter side, it's a beautful day!
